Uh oh app not loading? Here's an easy fix

Updated over a week ago

In rare cases, the Supernotes cache may become stale and cause your app to indefinitely load, show a white screen or show up with some errors. This can most commonly occur when you haven't used one of our apps in a little while. Don't worry your cards and data are all still there, please following these steps to get back up and running:

Try this steps first

Check you are running the latest version of Supernotes, you can find this the top right hand corner of the ( ? ) Help Menu. You can find out which version is the latest for your device on our Download page. If you don't have the most up-to-date version please download and install the new version.

Signing out and signing back in, is a simple way to reset and pull fresh data from our servers and this will often fix many errors. Even if you have installed a new app, you may still have to do this step.

Here's more steps

Mobile Apps

Try force closing the app, by swiping it up from the app switcher. If that fails after a few attempts, delete the app from your iPhone or Android device and then do a fresh install via Testflight or Google Play.

Desktop Apps

Try wiping the "Storage" and the "IndexedDB" of the app via the Developer Tools. You can open the developer tools using the "Option + Command + I" on Mac or "Shift + Ctrl + I" on Windows / Linux and then going to the Application tab in the top right like in the Screenshot below. Click on the "Storage" > "Clear site data" and then "IndexedDB" > "Delete Database" for all the different ones listed. Then refresh your app with "Cmd or Ctrl + R" and you should be able to log in.

If that still fails quit your app. And then delete the supernotes folder located in:

  • Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/

  • Windows: C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\

  • Linux: ~/.config/

If all else fails, do the above and delete the app. And then download the latest version from our downloads page.

Web Apps

Clear the local storage of the Supernotes within the developer tools of your browser, e.g in Chromium browsers go to 'Application' > 'Storage' > 'Clear site data' as below...

Or open the web app in an incognito window.
